Before we get into more details, let's go over what message barely EVER works, and can even put you in an AWFUL "psychological" state of mind.
These usually go into 2 categories.
The PLEAD- When your message sounds like this "Kyle, please, please call me. This is the second time I called you. We really need to talk."
The EMERGENCY- "Jennifer, this is an emergency. Please call me as soon as possible."
Now, I assume that you see what's wrong with those messages?

And here's my best ADVICE! When you combine them together, you have the special ingredient

So...
Let's take a look at works almost EVERY TIME.
In a friendly attitude:
"Hi Kyle. It's Jennifer. I wanted to tell you how I appreciate what you did for me. Call me because I want to thank you personally."
Saw how that used BOTH curiosity and self-interest?
Kyle will LOSE his mind! He'll ask himself "What did I do?"
"What did she appreciate?" And most of all the message lifts his positive mood.
BUT...
Before calling back prepare the "Set Up"...which is find out what he or she did that you appreciated.
Big or small...but it needs to be reasonable.
But most importantly...

If you apply this technique with no underlying strategy and they call you back you can do more DAMAGE than good if you do not handle it correctly.
